Every now and then a company makes a figure that is meant to depict an iconic moment in a piece of media, and usually I look at these and go “cool,” before moving on. But this $300 statue of fan-favorite mercenary Rebecca from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime made my jaw drop because it was, as one succinct X (formerly Twitter) user put it, “like if you sold a figure of Old Yeller in front of the barrel of a shotgun.”
Dark Horse’s “The Final Moment” statue depicts Rebecca in, well, her final moments. She’s angrily firing her signature green-and-pink shotgun up at Adam Smasher, the sadistic, foul-mouthed cyborg who permeates the Cyberpunk mythos and famously serves as the final boss of Cyberpunk 2077. The statue depicts the bastard barrelling toward her from on high, and anyone who’s watched Edgerunners knows he is about to put the “smash” in Smasher and crush her in front of all of Night City. And now you, too, can relive this tragic moment for $300, plus shipping and handling.
The 14-inch-tall statue is set to ship out between May and July of next year, and even if it’s a kind of bizarre moment to capture in a collectible, it looks pretty damn good. Both Rebecca and Smasher are highly detailed, and there are a lot of small touches—like the bullet casings at her feet—that help tell a story in one moment, frozen in time. Thankfully, it doesn’t reveal the devastating ending, so any visitors to your home don’t need to know that you’re proudly displaying the moment before a disaster. While Cyberpunk: Edgerunners isn’t getting a second season, Netflix is working on a second anime set in the Cyberpunk universe. It’s not too surprising the streaming service would want to double down, given Edgerunners was a big success for them. Hell, it was so good it more or less rehabilitated Cyberpunk 2077’s image after its broken launch in 2020. Developer CD Projekt RED did its fair share of the work, too, turning things around for the beleaguered game with updates and a stellar expansion in Phantom Liberty.
