Following its acquisition of Fox, Disney intends to revive countless IPs, and King of the Hill is among the first to receive this treatment. It’s coming to Hulu sometime in the near future and includes a time skip, which means we’ll see an aging Hank and Peggy Hill, but most importantly, an adult Bobby Hill.
In an Instagram teaser, voice actor Grey DeLisle revealed the first-ever look at adult Bobby Hill in the King of the Hill revival. He’s a grown man sporting stubble and working as a renowned chef. The social media post has since been removed, but not before garnering much attention from fans who grew up watching the animated series before it concluded in 2010. Here’s a look at an adult Bobby Hill:
The character description within the teaser reads:
“Chef Bobby Hill has loved food his whole life. From weeknights around the dinner table eating his mom’s ‘Spa-Peggy and Meatballs,’ to overindulging in lutefisk at church potlucks, to celebrations with family and friends at Luly’s Cafeteria, food and the people it’s enjoyed with are the foundation for his best memories. In fact, his career as a robata chef was inspired by his most cherished memory of all—weekends spent grilling with his dad.
A self-taught chef and one of the youngest contestants on King of the Grill, Chef Hill believes ‘good food can solve any problem.’ He draws on the influences of his childhood by combining classic Texas dishes with flavors from around the world. With Robata Chane, Chef Hill hopes to honor the art of Japanese robata and the German heritage of the Texas Hill Country while pushing culinary boundaries through his innovative fusion dishes.”
Pamela Adlon, the original voice actress for Bobby Hill, returns to reprise her role. Ahead of the upcoming revival, she revealed that Bobby Hill is now 21 years old, works as a renowned chef in a fusion restaurant in Dallas, Texas, and is traversing adult life with aplomb.
Alongside Adlon’s return as Bobby Hill, long-time fans will also recognize Kathy Najimy, Stephen Root, and Mike Judge, all reprising their original roles as Peggy, Bill, and Hank, respectively. Before his passing in 2023, Johnny Hardwick was able to record a few episodes as Dale, though it’s unclear who will tackle the role moving forward. Fans worry they’ll move forward with a silent Dale or, even worse, an electrolarynx due to his years of chain smoking.
King of the Hill returns sometime in the near future, premiering on Hulu, though we don’t yet have an official release date.
