Palworld can feel a little overwhelming. You’re thrust into an expansive world full of unique creatures, humans with rifles, and countless resources to source, harvest, and manage. And that’s on top of the survival mechanics! It’s a lot.
Carbon Fiber is one essential resource that causes mid-game players to scratch their heads in confusion. This resource is necessary for many unique items and workbenches, but like many other aspects of the game, gathering Carbon Fiber in Palworld could use some clarification..
How to farm Carbon Fiber
The primary way to acquire Carbon Fiber in Palworld isn’t to farm Pals for drops. Though it’s possible to do so, Pals who drop Carbon Fiber prove relatively rare, which makes farming a moot point. Instead, you’ll have better results by crafting Carbon Fiber.
First and foremost, you must unlock Carbon Fiber in the technology tree at level 35 for two Technology Points. Once you unlock the necessary tech, you must build a Production Assembly Line or Production Assembly Line II, which you can unlock at level 28 and level 42, respectively. Your average Workbench will not suffice!

Crafting Carbon Fiber is a breeze once you jump through hoops—grind out levels, and spend countless resources on a Production Assembly Line (it’s expensive!). You’ll need either two or five coals. You can craft charcoal in any furnace, but coal only comes from coal rocks commonly found in desert regions.
Which Pals drop Carbon Fiber?
Currently, only two Pals in the game drop Carbon Fiber as monster loot: Jetragon and Shadowbeak. They’re both relatively late-game Pals, though, found only on Mount Obsidian, at the tippy-top of the volcano, or, for Jetragon, as a boss battle on the island’s northwest side.

It’s a dangerous trek up the mountain, requiring heat-resistant armor and undershirts, which you can purchase at Duneshelter in the Dessicated Desert or craft by unlocking the appropriate technology in your tree.
