Worldcoin, a digital identification platform and cryptocurrency project, has announced a partnership with Web3 infrastructure platform Alchemy to launch its new blockchain World Chain.
The new blockchain is a platform designed to bring real-world utility to the global community, with focus use cases being decentralized finance (DeFi) and digital identity.
Worldcoin will leverage Alchemy’s Web3 infrastructure for proven reliability and community-driven growth, the two projects said in an announcement.
World Chain, a blockchain for humans
In April this year, the World Coin announced the launch of World Chain, noting that this would be a blockchain for humans. The platform is built on Optimism’s OP Stack and integrates with Ethereum, Coinbase and other networks in the Superchain.
Worldcoin noted in April that World Chain’s proof of personhood technology will be optimized for humans, with the authentication system meant to deter bots. As such, verified users will get the priority when it comes to blockspace and gas allowance.
With the project putting authenticated humans first, developers will be able to reach millions of real people with applications that offer real-world utility and enhance everyday life.
Project targets 10 million World App users
The partnership with Alchemy allows World Chain to launch at scale, with capacity to reach over 10 million users on World App users, the firms said.
Per today’s announcement, World Chain developers will tap into Alchemy’s solution to access data APIs, indexing solutions and other key tools to power apps meant for everyday use across the globe.
Among the tools is account abstraction infrastructure, which is crucial to the security and safety of self-custodial wallets.
“We’re excited to partner with Worldcoin to deliver essential infrastructure and foster developer growth for World Chain,” Noam Hurwitz, engineering lead at Alchemy, said. “With over six years of proven experience ensuring guaranteed uptime for major web2 and web3 enterprises, Alchemy is uniquely positioned to support the over 10M World App users at launch,” he added.
Worldcoin has said it will soon release a developer preview for World Chain. This will allow projects to start building on the blockchain ahead of the chain’s full launch later in the year.
